It’s only match week 2 and it seems the wheels are in motion for Arsenal and they’ve fallen off for Manchester United. Just last season the roles were reversed with Arsenal starting their campaign with a 3 match losing streak, an embarrassing feat Manchester United seems determined to beat after back to back defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford with the next opponent being Liverpool.
Arsenal were able to save themselves some blushes by managing to qualify for Europa League after an abysmal start last season. Manchester United, however, do not look inspiring at the moment. Mikel Arteta made a couple of changes that seemed drastic at the time, but turned out to be a master stroke in the long run. First he benched Leno for Ramsdale , a goalkeeper more suited to the type of football he wants his team to play, then when the tough decision had to be made regarding the captaincy, he took it by stripping then captain and highest paid player Aubamayang of the captaincy as he felt the player no longer reflected the club’s values.
Erik Ten Hag on the other hand seems to have taken the easy way out when he chose his captain and goalkeeper for the season. Harry Maguire has been underwhelming for the past twelve or so months and not many would’ve been surprised if Ten Hag had taken the captaincy off him in order to let him focus more on his game without the added pressure of leadership. David de Gea has proven to be a good but not a great shot stopper and his ability with the ball at his feet does not suit the modern game, let alone the kind of football that Ten Hag is known for. It seems Ten Hag took the easy decisions and only time will tell if they pay off or cost him his job. Manchester United have lost their opening two matches of the season by an aggregate of 6-1, surely this cannot be the finalisation of the end that started with Ole.
The problem stems from ownership if you ask me, together with a whole lot of different mistakes made in between
Firstly change of management..
3 manages in such short space of time?
No team is going to have the ability to create any sort of vision if if you have different managers coming and continously changing style of play
Secondly giving managers the right amount of time to beable to get style of play and the type of plays suited to it look at us(Arsenal) with time Arteta is turning us back into the proper dominating and entertaining Arsenal
And the last point to made is the appointment of managers, united is a big team however you may look at…
