Two of arguably the more successful London sides in recent history have ended their weekends with contrasting results.
Arsenal delivered a mouth watering display to wrap up Saturday’s Premier league action with an emphatic victory against new comers Bournemouth.
A Martin Odergaard brace in the first ten minutes put a major spanner in Scott Parker’s plans and after having struggled in the opening half hour of the game they were able to crawl themselves back in the contest. Arsenal was convincing, but not flawless and that’s good news for Mikel Arteta and his technical team as they can identify areas of improvement.
3 out of 3 wins is impressive, but nothing to get excited about, the league is a marathon.
On to Sunday’s action and Jesse Marsh’s Leeds United sent a loud message to the rest of the Premier League that they will be a force to be reckoned with this season. It’s uncommon to have a team that has lost arguably they two best players in Raphinha and Phillips to be able to make a smooth transition into life without them. Watching Leeds against Chelsea brought flashes of Jesse Marsh’s RB Leipzig; energetic, committed and relentless. Chelsea had no answers for the brilliance of Leeds United and to take away their much deserved display in favor of discussing Chelsea’s downward spiral wouldn’t be fair to the work done by everyone involved at Leeds.
